Essay on the freedom fighter that inspires me most
This year we are going to celebrate the 70th year of Independence on 15th August 2016. But this freedom is not a result of overnight struggle. Many freedom fighters sacrifice their life to make India a free country after the long struggle of over 100 years.
Shaheed Bhagat Singh is one of the great freedom fighter that inspires me most. He was born on 27 September 1907 in Lyallpur district (now Pakistan) into a Jat Punjabi Sikh family. Bhagat Singh was the real hero of freedom struggle in India. His uncle, Sardar Ajit Singh, was a great freedom fighter of that time and the founder of Indian Patriots’ Association. Bhagat Singh joined the Hindustan Republican Association later known as the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association. After the death of Lala Lajpat Rai in a lathi charge Bhagat Singh and his associates plotted the assassination of Scott, the Superintendent of Police, believed to have ordered the lathi charge. But by mistake they killed J.P. Saunders, an Assistant Superintendent of Police. Immediately after the incident Bhagat Singh quickly left Lahore to escape his arrest.
On April 8 1929 Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt threw a bomb onto the corridors of the assembly and shouted ‘Inquilab Zindabad! Bhagat Singh along with other revolutionaries found responsible for the Assembly bombing and murder of Saunders. As a result Bhagat Singh and his inmates were sentenced to death in the Lahore conspiracy case and ordered to be hanged on 24 March 1931.
Bhagat Singh was died at the age of 23 years only but inspires many to fight for the country pride and freedom.
